The End!
Merry Christmas!!
I actually have a “The End” page that I’ll put up in a few days after people have had a chance to see this final page.
It’s been weird finishing this story, I have to say, and there are still a number of loose ends, but this is about as conclusive as it can get without there being an insincere and delirious happy ending. It’s been a long learning experience, and check back once in a while because Ron and I will be posting a podcast ASAP to answer your questions and reflect.
Thank you all for reading; the wonderfulness of you guys are what made Lint happen in the first place. Without readers, I never would have drawn 440 pages of this, because without someone to share it with, what’s the point? I appreciate the vast number of kindnesses I’ve received from you all over the years.
Look forward to and check for the podcast, which I will post a link for here once we complete it. Things that will be in the podcast will include:
- In-depth analysis of plot points and character motivations/personalities
- Answers to all questions from you readers
- Creative webcomic-like plans for the future
I already feel the weird pinch of the dearth finishing Lint and its associated book has made in my brain, like a hole that needs to be filled, but with what?
Lastly, as I’ve been doing this for nearly six years (would have been 6 years on January 14th!) and have managed to finish this epic, I’m going to throw out the tip jar. So, if you’ve enjoyed Lint and would like to show some appreciation, here’s your chance:
Much Love,
<3Colby<3
PS: If you'd like to get some last minute podcast questions in, post them here.

December 23rd, 2009 at 11:00 am
Wow, I can't believe I'm not going to have Lint pages to look forward to anymore, for the first time in 4 or 5 years…but, thanks for seeing this story through all the way to the end, that makes you part of a small and awesome group of webcomic artists.
(Also, Geeves looks super pretty here)
December 23rd, 2009 at 12:16 pm

Aaaaaaaaaaaah soon I will have to move Lint from the normal ongoing comics section of my links to the finished section! Wow. But I am anticipating that “The End” page. And Sangwine looks so epic in the last panel ^^
December 23rd, 2009 at 2:47 pm
Thank you. Thank you so much for six years of laughter and tears. When I realized the page was up, I paused everything, all music, all conversations, to read it. Just…thank you.
December 23rd, 2009 at 4:44 pm

December 23rd, 2009 at 7:04 pm
Lint was so amazing…. I can't believe it's done… Thank you, Colby, for taking time to make this comic of pure awesomeness!
December 23rd, 2009 at 8:24 pm
….W-wow. It's…it's really over? :O
You don't even know what a great Christmas present this is for me, Colby! Because, you see, starting in January I'm going to be giving up certain websites for a good long while, including most of my webcomics. So it is really cool that I got to see the end of this before that happened! Granted, I'll probably miss the big 'The End' page, but this is definitely a satisfactory ending in my book. ^^
Major congratulations on finishing your story! Wow, talk about an accomplishment! =D And in only six years! I know several webcomics that have been going on longer than that, and yet are very far away from being done. It must feel amazing to know that you were able to complete this entire wonderful story! And it WAS an excellent story. The characters were awesome, the universe unique, humorous, thoughtful, and exciting, and the story detailed and witty and well-structured. Even the death of a favored character was turned into a melancholy-sweet ending. Well done on all sides! =D
I wish you the best of luck in any future webcomicing and/or writing endeavors you may have in the future; you are an excellent writer and I won't be the least bit surprised if I have the pleasure of seeing your name in a book store someday. Keep up the great work, and keep enjoying what you do! (As if you need encouragement for that, lol! ;D)
December 23rd, 2009 at 8:31 pm
He is? Awww! <3 I love his face there! I also love dramatic wakenings!
December 24th, 2009 at 12:18 am
It's going around Sangwine's arm. You can see a bit of it.
December 24th, 2009 at 12:26 am
Sigh… I've been reading since the day Xylic punched Sangwine in the face. I remember that first moment so vividly. And now, it's done. Sad, but on the other hand, congratulations! You did it!
Thank you so much for sharing your story with us, Colby! It's been hysterical and beautiful. Best wishes for whatever you do next! (including Life. Life's a biggie. XD )
*runs away to re-read the whole comic*
December 24th, 2009 at 4:45 am
Oh my god, I can't believe it's over D8! Damnit! I'm so into this story and world, gah! But I am interested to know if you'll make another comic, and what it will be about if ya do /sagenod
December 24th, 2009 at 4:53 am
CONGRATULATIONS!
reading Lint has been a lovely experience =]
December 24th, 2009 at 9:47 am
I started reading when Derf punched Zedwig in the face
Reading the commentary is almost as fun as the comic!
December 24th, 2009 at 10:12 am
I got chills. This is an amazing page. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
Thank you so much for this. This was an amazing ride. ^^
December 24th, 2009 at 10:13 am
Thank you, truly and sincerely, for the long and wonderful ride through Lint. I enjoyed it immensely, and will definitely reread it at least once. You're a wonderful storyteller and artist, I hope you continue to make comics for a long time to come. Thank you again!
December 24th, 2009 at 12:16 pm
agh! i can't not believe it's over – it is such a crazy feeling! what a wonderful way to end the year though, to finish the fang novel and lint itself at the same time! i can only echo the others in thanking you so much for this story, for pouring out so much of yourself, your time and energy, for this and for us…you're unbelievable! i'll be here for the podcast, future novels, what-have-you…as will the others, i am sure. we are yours!

I just went to Gunnerkrigg Court and saw this line:
“Oh no!”
-”A sad face!”
–”The saddest face!”
That line is completely applicable. A sad, yet satisfied face, a face that knows–crap, this is poetic– that the fulfillment of one of my most enjoyable pastimes is not a cause for mourning, but rejoicing in the accomplishment of a great work. Well done, Colby Purcell. Merry Christmas, and best wishes for all the years to come.

I won't lie, I've been dreading this page as much as I've anticipated it. LinT had become a part of my daily thoughts and musings, and your storytelling so familiar and almost.. magical to me. It's beautiful and something I want a part of my life. Knowing the window into LinT's universe has closed is a difficult thing, but nevertheless a huge thanks for creating it in such a way that I can't bare to see it done. It is a huge success.
p.s. autograph plz kthnx
December 24th, 2009 at 10:24 pm
*heartbreak* It's over. I have been so busy I couldn't even check it to see it quickly and it's over. *cry*
Amazing end though. “As if you were dead”. In a way, I bet Sang WAS dead. XD Colby, if/when I get other fics I promised, I WILL manage to write you a fanfic. It might take a long time but I will get it written!
December 25th, 2009 at 6:16 am
dear fellow lint fans! lint is my favorite comic online – but there are several other fantasy comics i enjoy — what are your favorites? (besides the obvious well-promoted comics, like phoenix requiem or the dreamland chronicles)
let me throw daqueran out there if you haven't read it, give it a try – it's earlier on in the story, but i'm loving the artwork and the main characters so far… http://gurukitty.com/
December 25th, 2009 at 11:49 am
AAAAARGH! IT'S OVER!!!*small tear*
December 25th, 2009 at 12:38 pm
*Sigh* I am sad that Lint is over now, but I am happy that it was ended well. I started reading about the time the crew met Al'bert inside the Haloed Monolith. It's been a long, fun ride. Thank you, Colby!
December 26th, 2009 at 10:31 am
Me too! The story takes place in Rascaline, where Regnar and Juan (the Cigar Hermit) are growing-up as brothers. Their normal lives are disrupted when Fangline arrives – length is 20 pages and rising!
December 26th, 2009 at 1:32 pm
Thank you so much.
It seems a bit strange, but that is really all I can think to say. Thank you. For sharing this wonderful story, world, and these characters with us. Thank you for your sence of humor, your sence of drama. For keeping the dead dead and the ending as endings should be- with the reminder that life goes on.
Whatever you find to fill the hole left by the ending of this, I hope you find it fulfilling, enriching, and just plain fun ^_^ If it's anything you can share with us, I will be there for the ride.
December 28th, 2009 at 9:43 pm
Congratulations Colby! Great ending. You are an inspiration to us all.
December 29th, 2009 at 9:38 am
The final panel is so gorgeous. Just the look on his face. Thank you so much Colby!
December 29th, 2009 at 10:29 am
Thankyou for the wonderful story and congratulations on finishing it. I will miss LinT.
December 29th, 2009 at 7:25 pm
Oh. My.
Doubtless I, like so many others, must use this space to mourn for the end of your wonderful webcomic. And so I do. Thank you for bringing it to us on the internet. Lint shall be missed.

December 30th, 2009 at 7:50 pm
Wow. This… will take some getting used to! I've been reading since the City of Sol, and to be honest the comic's become part of my life. I'll be sure to keep track of whatever other projects you cook up, Colby!
And yeah, congratulations on bringing this story to a close. Seeing a project through to its conclusion is never easy but always rewarding – well done!

The end of a good story is always bittersweet for the reader, I can't imagine how it is for the author!
Congratulations!! What an accomplishment! Thank you for sharing Lint with us!
January 3rd, 2010 at 5:03 am
Thank you for this beautiful comic! I haven't been reading as long as some of the others here (only since Al and Bac got locked in prison) but I can truthfully say that Lint became a part of my life, and now it's done =( Here's to bigger and better things in future =)
January 3rd, 2010 at 5:00 pm
Now it's complete.. ;3 What will you do now?

But he's a King! Like Unicorns and Faeries. He was meant to revive her…
Ah well, it's a beautiful bittersweet ending and you kept my engaged beyond the end. There is nothing more touching and thank you for sharing all this with everyone
