#437 – The Pendant

:D

Btw – I’ve updated quite a bit on the Fang novel, since it’s NaNoWriMo!

  • I see dead people!
  • spas
hmm...yes, i suppose if sangwine ever wanted empathy, he could go hang out with melinda from ghost whisperer. her husband's dead too and she's still with him.
  • spas
if anyone's -by some odd chance (i only read it the other day)- not reading the nanowrimo novel, many questions are being there.
  • Phenoca
    Spoilers..?
:D I must read more about Fang. I have to find out more about his character, since he meets the brother of my main character, and is thus a minor character for my fanfiction.
    ... But I don't think I can write 50,000 words :/

the novels are a treasure trove for the true lint fan. i honestly think that colby's an idealist, (i know you're listening, colby!) bc she refuses or has no time to socialize with the fantasy webcomic clique which in effect makes a comic more popular, but...if you're intelligent and like lint, it's a crime to miss out on her online novels. start reading right now!

What about that whole life magic thing that Sangwine wrote to Teitnl about? Teitnl told him that his father had been dead too long to bring him back, but Bactine might not be. Also Teitnl said that Unicorns, Fairies, and Kings all have some life magic, but only Unicorns use it on a normal basis. Although Hope would have tried to heal Bactine right away if she could(does life magic factor in with healing btw?) Maybe the pendant is linked too life magic and kings, and this is a way of bringing her back for Sangwine!
Also I love Bactine's expression in panel four! It's made of win, she all- I know everything now, bwuahahahahahahahaa!
  • Phenoca
... Will Bactine disappear if she touches a unicorn..?

I'm still here, i swear. XD I just am so busy that I can't think of smart things to say. Derf, drawn and quartered? Do elves even DO that? It's so... messy.

So he does still get to see Bactine? *happyful* Good, I liked Bactine and I was very sad when she died. ^_^
  • I must observe, there are a LOT of brunettes in this dancing scene. Hmm.

    o.o
    you're right!
  • catlitten
Well, it's pretty obvious she isn't just a dream woman. I mean, otherwise, how would Sang know that he should restore Al'bert's titles? And that Derf told everyone about Sang seeing his dad? Sang didn't know about them, so that means Bactine must exist in some state beyond his own imagination, since she knows information he doesn't.

And I'm so excited for the next page! ...But not so much the comic being but a few pages from being over and done with. SAD FACE.

    True true.
  • Phenoca
    Good point.
  • LuckyMrph
Darn you Derf!!!!!!! JK, haha! I love Bactine's faces!
  • Rachael
    hahaha sure you will

i don't like the bactine/sangwine dream thing as an ongoing relationship, because it seems highly unlikely he'll move on with a real woman in real life. this is also the case with alex/nastajia, but in that case alex is not the last living in the royal line in his world, and the issue of whether or not the two could breed like that has not been addressed, although i imagine they might be able to, whereas with sang and bactine, this seems impossible and sang is the last schloeffel! well, there is xylic, perhaps he will marry hope and have children . but i don't know, it seems a sad end for sangwine that his entire family life is solely in his dreams, intangible, unreal...

i don't remember the bit with the wizard and the pendant, was it in a side story and not the comic? also, how does bactine know what derf overheard, when derf's still alive? she met him first, in his dreams? and why did it take months til sangwine saw bactine if he was wearing the pendant the whole time? i would move these questions to the podcast thread, but perhaps they're about to be answered on the next comic. wow, this page so confused me!
  • BobbyJ
    That was random... ^-^
  • P.S: Bactine is a real woman, in real life, not a dream woman. She's just dead. More to be explained in the next page.

    P.S.S: Chill. :)
  • spas
hmmm...ok i'll chill, but now i'm only more confused! no, no, i'll wait patiently & excitedly read the fang novel - which i didn't realize had begun publishing online until just now - yay! <does a="" jig="">

anyway, i found the pendant page: http://www.purnicellin.com/lint/2005/12/05/12052005/

i read a few pages on from 'back in the day' - haha, hilarious about bactine's 'secret' but now i'm wondering about her real secret. will one of you kind fellow lint readers remind me?</does>

Also, I'm still sort of trying not to be excited about Zedwig telling Bactine to trust him, just in case there was more there than letting her heal Sangwine. (Sorry for the typo in the above post.)
  • spas
hmm...i had thought saving sang's life was his meaning, but you could be right. she's a real woman, but dead. i don't know, that still doesn't sound so good, but i am trying not to think about it until the next pages...we'll have plenty of time to discuss after.

She loved Sanguine, and at that stage didn't want him to know.
  • LeafyGreenTerrorist
Well, the pendent was given to Sang after they saved the wizard from Al'bert and his gang. It was sort of like an afterthought, and not much was said about it (if I remember correctly). It was in the main comic but not heavily emphasized. Also, I'm assuming that Derf told the rest of them about Sangwine seeing his father right after it happened. Those are the only questions I can answer....I'm wondering about the reason for Bactine's long wait to visit Sang too...
  • Apo
Pendant? I see to have forgotten about that one..
  • Lissy
Hmm... if he dreams about Bactine every night...

Honestly, he'd be able to spend more time with her then most kings get to spend with their wives, heck, more than most normal men get to spend with their wives. Quite a treat, and definitely a boon to a king.
  • Phenoca
    Lol Derf. Happy Ending :)
