I tried soooooo hard to get this done by Tuesday. I dunno what’s up that I can’t get comics done faster.

Anyhoo. Yay for Xylic!

Post your podcast questions here.

No time for more news, I got up early to get this out and am out of time!

  • Oo oo - Is Sangwine and Bactine's dream sequence travelling back in time? Are we gonna have her with short hair again? So nostaligic!
  • stormcloud
I hope we see her with short hair again :D That was a riot! Although, she probably didn't think so, so who knows? xD
  • Rachael
hm...... duz bac look taller than sang in the second panel?
  • :D Sand dune...
  • Rachael
Why didn't i think of that? *conks self on the head*
  • A Reader
May I just say that Xylic is now ten times as ravishing as a duke?
  • stormcloud
I really like going back in time like this. I like getting to see all of those places with your improved art skills :)

I really like the texture on the first panel, just like a painting . . . I was thinking, though, that maybe it should be on the portrait of Xylic and his family, too?
  • Wendy
WHOAWHOAWHOA I just realized something! Does this mean we're going to go back to that crazy bunch of squirrels (chipmunks?) in the woods?
  • Xilic look kinda suspicious (even evil) now that he becomes a duke... <sigh> he's going the usurp the kingdow on the future im sure (I would do that in despite for Bactine :( sad ending, not fair, but anyway...) </sigh>
  • CC
It just seems that way because he looks so much like Fang!
  • Kenosaki
I'll join in on mentioning HURRAY FOR THE SCORPION!!! And Xylic, It's so good to see him again! I love the picture of him as a kid, it's so cute!
  • Zypher
    I TOTALLY KNEW IT!

I think most of us totally knew it. XD
  • spas
true, but even if we suspected or felt sure that xylic was sang's long lost cousin or some such, it's awesome to have it validated, to have xylic know and be recognized as elven royalty and even in line to the throne, after having been such an outcast. i hope he's hooking up with hope!
  • spas
ok ok, why did ellinya leave xylic and her 'husband?' please tell me what you guys think?

??because sangwine's mother died in childbirth and the king needed her help raising the boys. she couldn't take them with her because they would have been shunned as humans and her own place might have been less secure, reducing her ability to help solidify the elven kingdom.
  • It could simply have been as simple as one parent not being able to handle the span of the others life. :/ It's been awhile since I read through that part of the story, but I sort of got a vibe that Xylic's dad was a bit bitter...
  • spas
but then why would ellinya have gotten involved with him in the first place? i think you're right, xylic's dad was bitter...because ellinya had abandoned him and their son to go take care of royal elven problems...and this brings up the question, how did the portrait get to the castle? perhaps she brought it with her, as a reminder of what she'd left behind...only she couldn't hang it prominently where everyone could see it...it was her secret and so she kept it in the hidden passage! what do you say?

look here for xylic's dad's last words: http://www.purnicellin.com/lint/2005/03/31/03312005/

shocking, the improvement in the art from then until now, eh?
  • Freak of Unature
    I knew it!
  • Rachael
AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW HIS PARENTS ARE SO CUTE TOGETHER!!!! love the picture of xylic!
  • Yaaaaaaaaay!!! We finally get to see the portrait! I was assuming it was Xylic related -- that is a very cute little Xylic. :)

Waiting happily for the next Xylic page.
  • Barrett
    HAHA! Yes, the scorpion!!! :D
  • CC
Is Bactine holding a scorpion? *cringes*
Baby Xylic is so cute! I think we all guessed that he was Sang's aunt's son, but I'm really curious to hear how he go separated from the family. He must be significantly older than Fang and Sang or they'd have remembered him, wouldn't they?
  • HelenaHermione
Oh, wow! Well, we all knew that Elliyna--or at least *guessed* that Elliyna--was Xylic's mother; amazing that Xylic was raised by his mother, for a short while, I had assumed that baby Xylic was left on his father's doorstep, or something similar to that, after he was born because Elliyna couldn't take care of him, because he was only 'half-elf'. But now I'm wondering just when she had lost him--when he was two years old, or sometime around that age so that he couldn't remember her? And why was he separated from her--because of the danger that she was in, with a baby like him, or because of her death, or...and if Sang had not known about his cousin, then why--because he was separated from him? Yes, I really hope that second page answers all of these questions...
  • Rachael
Well, look at him. He looks like he's five or six...
  • Keybolt
But why were Xylic and his father in hiding?
  • Xylic gets more than one page :)
  • Lini
    Yesss!!
  • LuckyMrph
OMG! OMG! I just got it! As Sang is telling us what happened to all these people we're revisiting all the scenes from before in the story... Like here, with the umbrella they're in front the place that they needed the password for, GRAAAAARGH!!! Yeah! Bactine is even holding the scorpion! And in the last panel his parents look exactly like Hope and James!!! Whatever hapened to them?

Btw I love the way you do webs. Xylic looks so noble with the waterfall and everything!
    Phantasmagorical.
  • Rachael
goofball... you just noticed that? lol
  • Bactine, put the scorpion down! O__o

The first panel looks like one of those portrait paintings aristocrats pay for to hang up in their halls so everyone can look at them and go ooooooooooooooooooo!! :D
  • It does :D
  • lizybeth
My thoughts exactly! I want it on my wall :D :D
  • Kenosaki
Me too, that would be an awesome poster.
  • the_pale_lady
I just wanted to say I am really enjoying the way you are doing the epiloge.

Also I feel really bad for Xylic. He's lost his love and his best friend.
  • yerk
