#414 – More familial angst

Wow, guys, thanks for the donations; so much generosity! If you want to help me reach my goal, and if you want to know why there’s a goal in the first place, click here.

I’ve got something else going on, too, that I would like some input on. I’m going to be heading to Tennessee for the Purcell Family reuinion for a week and a half starting July 2nd, and though I can’t get 3 extra pages done to fill the time, I’d like to make some extra comics (Omake? Otake? What IS that word…) that are a bit quicker to make to fill the updates. Anyway… if there’s a scenario you’d like to see, no matter how absurd, throw your suggestions this way and I’ll try to impliment them all. :)

Last, I missed getting comments on the last page… you were all too distracted by the fund raiser (which isn’t a terrible thing, to be sure, but I did miss them!)

    Omake Idea: the Cigar Hermit, Stump, a One-Legged-Zombie-Tailor, and the Disgruntled Leprachaun playing cards! We haven't seen those guys in ages...

    Okay, not necessarily playing cards, but I'd love to see the Cigar Hermit, the Krackon, and the Disgruntled Leprachaun show up again. :)

    Uh-Oh! Someone has a little black emptiness inside him now doesn't he? I love Sangwine's face in the 3rd panel! <3 And I love Fangline's face in the last one! <3 But I love how all of it is colored even more!

    *Sangwine's face in the fourth panel!* Someone else pointed that out to me too. Hehe. Cus i said the same thing. CONCURENCE!!!!!!!!!! You know, i like the color of Fang's eyes. It really fits. hmmm.

    Nothing. Just imagine him dealing with a bunch of giggly girls that refuse to give up though. It's not wrong to want to torment amusing characters a bit is it? :)

    Oh, and ur coming to Tennessee!! Yeah, u and Barrett should do something together. Teach him ur mad skills... Oh and the Fondue thing that u did was great. Anyway, i agree with Falco. Go Al'bert!! Im thinkin maybe like just an all-out brawl between all the characters--past and present. Or a group shot. Those are always fun.
  • Barrett and I are going to do something called the "Purcell Family Reunion" together, wherein I will teach him all of the skill I've gained over the past ten years in two days. It'll involve a montage using "Eye of the Tiger".

    The facial expressions are so amazing. Especially Sangwine in the fourth panel and Fang in the last. You have such a talent for subtley and clearly conveying a character's thoughts in their expression - I'm always stunned!

    I always forget that Fang is an elf xD It's probably the short hair, lack of poshity poshness, and the fact that you can't see how long his ears are.

    I'd like to see everyone just stop, look around, and break out into a dance party with disco lights and all that. I know, dumb, but it would tickle my fancy.

    Oh, and for interesting stuff--how about something with Stump? He hasn't been around a lot either in the last few comics--in the foreground, at least, I don't know about the background. And Gaffer, yes, he was with Stump--the old 'buddies'--but now where have they gone off to? To a drinking game, or just playing cards with Pedro the dragon?

    Then there's that Cigar-Smoking Hermit...

    Or--have Derf trying to be a regular ogre; that might be funny.

    And Al'bert--Where's Al'bert? Is he dead?

    What do I want to see? Al'bert... anything involving him... was it 2008 last time we saw him?
    Zedwig vs Teitnl would pretty much be amazing too.

    By the way...Fang...BOO HOO Get ON with it already! I thought you had a life, but apparently I was wrong. You have a mother complex. You may want to go to counseling. Then again, Zedwig failed in that regard, didn't he. Hmm.

    I want to see Teitnl arguing with Sangwine about unicorns. :-D Maybe have Zedwig and or Derf join in as well? That'd make for great discussion. XD

    Personally, I thought it was their dad who made the rift, whether he meant to or not <.< BUT, I don't know enough about their childhood, so who can say anything? Besides Colby, I mean . . .

    I love Sang's expression in the fourth panel. He's like, "Nyeh!"

    For omake-thingie ideas . . . how about younger Zedwig teaching kiddy Bactine and Hope how to faint like "proper ladies" because Hope roped him into it? Maybe Fang can be laughing in the background . . .

    Okay, stupid idea, I know XD

    I'd like to see Henry's magical ACHOO trick that makes him teleport. What happens when he has a cold and the only thing he has is his magical hanky?
  • I disagree, upon the knowledge that Fang was beginning to foster malice against Sang and his family before any of them actually did anything. It started from his mother's death, and it must be said, it's much easier to pay attention to the son that wants to be around you, instead of the one gradually dissolving into an Elven bowl of angst. :-D

    Still, as a father it was his duty to comfort Fang--no matter how many years it took, and no matter how "angsty" his son was. He's the dad. I'm sorry, that means you hang around your kid even when--no, especially when--they're not feeling so hot. I figure he did his best, and because of that, Fang could have gotten over it. Probably. However, he chose not to, and when he grew up and really could have let it slide, he chose to remain angry. :D So in that sense, you're correct. He messed himself over. I just don't think he did it when they were kids.

    Ooh! I want to see . . . how about Sanguine, Fang, and Xylic all taking a break and having tea?
