First reaction (stifled): inane giggling and butterfly feeling
Second reaction (still stifled): random guffaw and contained grins
Third reaction: enormous amount of happiness, satisfied smile, great eagerness to see next page and hopefully eventually see Fang shoot himself in the foot HAHAHAHAHAHAH *stifle*
Hmmm… He's probably talking about either Sangwine, or Zedwig – less likely though, considering what he's doing. Is he planning to shoot Sang again? And… that red stuff, right under Sang's hand in panel two – is that blood or his clothing? *goes to check what his outfit looked like* Nah, that looks like the color of his coat thing. By the way, if you compare the blood on him on page #385, and then on #390 when Bactine is next to him… Well, it looks like the blood disappeared. But would Healing magic mystically launder his shirt too?
I wonder. Is there any possibility that Fang IS talking about Zedwig here? Because it seems that he's pretty much in denial about that whole issue – but after their conversation? I don't know. Fang appeared to have no qualms shooting Sangwine. I bet he'd find it very hard to shoot Zed. *brain breaks* I'll shut up now.
You know what, I almost posted hints, but no… it's just so easy I can't bring myself to do it. Whoever knows who Fang means by “him” wins a million points.
I just assumed “him” meant Sangwine. Mainly because I don't think he's cleaning the gun — I think he's reloading it. To finish the job.
((then again, from what we've seen of Fang so far, I can't really see him being bothered by the thought of killing Sangwine. At all. So maybe he *is* talking about Zedwig))
OH! OR! Maybe Fang has completely lost it and he's now referring to himself. “It's either me, or that little voice in my head that's really really annoying.”
Could that voice be telling him to not kill his brother? And maybe when he is saying “Me or him” he's saying more “Me wanting to kill Sang, or him, that voice in my head saying not to kill my brother”
Either Sangwine or Zedwig. Sang because only one of the Schloeffel line can rule. Zedwig because either Fang or Zed must die so that the other can live. My guess goes strongly to Sangwine.
Colby, your time is, obviously, your time. Don't let people get to you. I might say I don't want to wait, but I can tell you right now I would rather get one update a month than no updates at all! Heck, with how busy you are with your children, we're lucky to get a comic at all.
You know, I think I mentioned a fanfiction a year ago… I actually started it, but my computer dieded and I was stuck anyway… *sad* *is still working on ideas, honest*
Here, here! It shouldn't be a matter of pressure. It should be something that's fun to do. Plus, we may complain, but if we got ALL the rest of the comic in one day, then we would read it all and it would be OVER. And this is one of those stories you don't really ever want to end.
Based just on what Colby has said, what with the million points and all, I'm going to have to say Al'bert, because Zedwig is the obvious answer.
He would definitely have to convince himself to kill Al'bert, his oldest friend. Imprisoning him is one thing, killing him is another altogether. He knows he needs to do it, or Al'bert will reveal the secret of his earring to more people than just Bactine.
The only hole I'm seeing in my assessment is that the last time we saw Al'bert, he was facing down about 5 or 6 guards.
No million points because nobody came out and just said it like it is.
Who else could it possibly be? Who else could make his hand shake like that? Sang is supposed to be down for the count, there's no reason he would go reload his gun just to shoot him again; waste of time. Who just threatened his life, and blithely even? Where is his attention focused in the first half of the comic? After whose retreating form? Why would he need to tell himself over what he needs to do? Fang knows what he needs to do, at least in his own warped sense of self-preservation, but yet for the first time there is an outward sign of resistance to the act of killing. Why? To what realization has he just come?
yes – zedwig. but…would zedwig really kill fang or fang kill zedwig? i think not. ponder in angst, yes.
re: someone's comment about the page and you taking the day off – you know that your readers are insane colby-fans and will wait with baited breath for word of your next project when lint is finished. and that we are grateful/appreciative of your work and like falco (i think) said, amazed that you manage to fit it in to your family life, music and more. however, if random people who don't know about – this comic or your life or the deal with webcomics in general- pop on by, i am in favor, even if they say absurd things. because more people should read lint! everyone should have the pleasure! like manna, lint should fall down from the heavens for curious readers everywhere! hahaha!
What's wrong with the obvious answer? If it's obvious, it's because the story was told well and there isn't going to be a plot hole popping up out of nowhere to eat people.
I do believe it's Zedwig simply because that second to last panel Fang is all like >_< and so far to date, only Zedwig can bring out the angsty self-doubt in Fang.
One hopes we made you feel better? To be honest, most of the time I'm like “PAAGEEE!!!!!!!!!! WOO HOOO!!!” and then I read it and I'm like “Nooo, need new page!” *desperately finds things to do until next update.*” ^^ Which reminds me, when I get a decent internet connection I need to reread again.
You're right – he's opening a bag which probably doesn't contain cleaning supplies. I think the one on the desk contains bullets, because it's bulky, and the one he's carefully opening has gunpowder.
My first thought was “he's going to finish off Sangwine”, but there are flaws with that. Loading this gun takes time, and why would Fangline do it just to shoot someone who is dying and helpless? If he wanted to make sure, he could just stab him. He also had no qualms about leaving him to die, so why now?
My bet's on Zedwig. Zedwig is beginning to break free of the mind-control and has announced he will kill Fang as soon as he can. Fang feels bad about killing Zedwig, but ultimately would decide exactly along the “him or me” lines he's saying now.
Zedwig needs to watch his back – and the worst thing is that there's not much he can do while Fang still controls him.
Fang is in quite the conundrum. If he doesn't kill Zedwig, there's a good chance that the prissy little mage will make good on his promise. However, if he does kill Zedwig the elf mages will be free of Fang's control and will be able to start their own revolution under Xylic.
As much I am a fan of Fang, I think it's the end of the line for him. :'(
Is Fang experiencing some guilt? Wowsa! He may have a consious in that twisted little mind of his after all! Lovely page as always! I'm absolutely loving the design of the gun!
I say… I know this is out of topic, but I drew the stupidest piece of fanart ever the other day. How would I go about getting them to you, Colby, so I can share my SHAME??
Curses. If I'd read these comments earlier I would have gotten a million points. XD
I never thought it could be anyone BUT Zedwig, so I just went on living my life, little knowing that there was a debate going on JUST BELOW the comic page… *laughs* Come on, guys.
This page is so obviously Fang's moment of, “Huh. I rather think Zedwig MEANS it this time. Well, poop, now I'll HAVE to shoot him.” … But much more profound-sounding, he is sorta an evil dictator, after all.
And if I'm wrong, Colby should lobotomize me, because I'll feel like an idiot anyway for believing something is so obvious and being mistaken. BUT HE'S TALKING ABOUT ZEDWIG, I'M SURE OF IT.
Would Zedwig kill Fang? YES. Would Fang kill Zedwig? IF HE HAD TO.
March 13th, 2009 at 12:06 pm
Cleaning his gun. At least he knows he needs to do that… of course he has had it for a long time.
And oh my gosh, poor Sangwine is still just LYING there! T_T *pets Sang's pretty hair* Poor guy.
And either Fang or… WHO? Gah, I dun't WANNA wait until Tuesday!!!!!!! Colby, you are killing me! (The cold here is helping, but still…)
March 13th, 2009 at 12:53 pm
Aaw, is that Fang shaking I see? I think little Fangline isn't taking shooting his brother so well, and now I just want to hug him.

him or who?!?! colby update please GAHHHHHH!
March 13th, 2009 at 2:40 pm

March 13th, 2009 at 2:41 pm
Wait…isn't that the balcony for Zedwig's room? Why are Fang's gun cleaning supplies in Zedwig's room? O_o
March 13th, 2009 at 2:43 pm
M ultimate guess is Sangwine. Obviously, one has to rule the kingdom and Sang is best and Fang wants the power. On has to live, other has to die.
March 13th, 2009 at 2:52 pm
I just assumed “him” meant Sangwine.

March 13th, 2009 at 3:25 pm
maybe zed's nobility (and sheer craziness) will finally affect Fang enough that he shoots HIMSELF and the others get off?
March 13th, 2009 at 3:55 pm
Umm… maybe Xylic?
March 13th, 2009 at 3:59 pm
He's, um, reloading.
Hmm, Xylic, Al'bert, or Zedwig?
March 13th, 2009 at 4:50 pm
Does he even know Xylic exists?
March 13th, 2009 at 5:11 pm
It's Stump! O_o Well everyone else seems to know him…XD
March 13th, 2009 at 5:29 pm

Or something…
March 13th, 2009 at 6:16 pm
He does, from James, but he doesn't know anything more about him except that he happens to be an elf.
March 13th, 2009 at 6:24 pm
who will he shoot though…?
March 13th, 2009 at 6:56 pm
Aren't we going to get it early? She said she had a head start…It just matters whether she's going to use it as a day off.
March 13th, 2009 at 7:00 pm
Either Sangwine or Zedwig. Sang because only one of the Schloeffel line can rule. Zedwig because either Fang or Zed must die so that the other can live. My guess goes strongly to Sangwine.

“She said she had a head start…It just matters whether she's going to use it as a day off.”
Please don't go there. Readers questioning how I use my time is something that will turn me off from this project VERY quickly.
March 13th, 2009 at 9:32 pm
That would be the day.
March 13th, 2009 at 10:49 pm

oh wait! He might be trying to kill Al'bert for telling Bactine his secret about the earring.

It seems very, very unlikely… but it IS sorta suspicious how we never saw the dead King's face….
…Nah.
March 14th, 2009 at 9:05 am
On the other hand, if it was Sang or Zed then we would all have a million points by now. So it must be… someone… else.

Naah, he can't shoot Zedwig. Why? Err, well.. just because… I'd cry.
Now that I think of it, my favourite characters always end up dead, so I guess whether or not I cry has never mattered. XD Oops?
March 14th, 2009 at 1:40 pm

There's no fun in trying to guess. Much more fun to just wait and die and finally go “Ohhh, THAT'S who she and Fang meant….” XD
March 14th, 2009 at 2:26 pm

Well, when you say it like that it's so simple that I feel shtupid. Strain, my brain muscles, strain like the wind!

him or me, meaning Sedwig and fang (he doesn't deserve a capital letter) or Sangwine and fang?
