CHAPTER 15: SUNRISE
  • Crystal
yeah idk what is goin on, but that is probably the second most beautiful, after sacrifice
  • Pickles
Wow... that is amazing art :)
  • Gnugs
    Absolutely fantastic, Colby!
  • Most surreal Colby - pretty though. Mm, we like the pretty!
I find myself thinking of Derfs curse and what that looked like. The cloak we see here could be a curse...
  • Dani
*cue stark incomprehension* I'm not even going to guess.
  • HelenaHermione
They're both falling from darkness--Zedwig is closer to darkness, crazy with destructive magic, but Fang is returning to glory--the sunlight--either through some sort of redemption or some sort of sacrifice, possibly in death, but overall he does something that makes him turn back into Fangline. Maybe he does it for the sake of his mother, like saving his brother Sangwine, of else the slab is just his own gravestone.

The thing with the cloak-tail is very reminiscent of the Sistine Chapel, like the connection between God and man, and that is one last connection that will end in death, for either one or both. Oh, and...Sunrise; this is going to cover the major battle, all through the night, until the sun rises--on a new day, on a new start for Schoefflina. (Uh...elf country? I don't know if I spelled the name right.)
  • Random Person
I can't help myself. I have to post my theory as to what this image means.
To me, it looks like Zedwig is flying away and leaving Fang behind. He's still barely holding on, but he looks ready to let go. (Zedwig, then, would be the "sunrise." Breaking from Fang's power and rising up to be a glorious new Zedwig).
As for Fang down there: it looks like he is crying on that tombstone. To me, this seems to mean that breaking away from Zedwig is as hurtful to Fang as dealing with death (his mother's death?)
Who knows? But that's what I see when I look at this beautiful image.
  • Stormin_Mormon
Oh wow, what a place to leave off, I'm gonna be gone for two years starting early next week...after which I'll have alot of catching up to do ^_^
  • Okay dude, where'd you get your call to? :D
  • Stormin_Mormon
The Utah, Provo Mission... never expected that one haha :-P but this is my last time on el interweb for the two years, so... PEACE!
  • Haha... wow. Good luck baptizing those 8 year olds and eating pot roast every night!
  • Dani
I was told at once point that it's one of the highest baptizing missions in the world. At least you won't be expected to eat chicken-foot soup!
  • Falco
I think it means... and I've been afraid of this for awhile... that if Fang dies, Zedwig won't be far behind him. I mean, after reading Fromage, I don't think either of them could live without the other.
But what does Fang's long hair mean?
  • Hannah
This is possibly my favorite piece of art you've ever done. It's amazing!
  • Kade
Looks like Fang to me! I love how there are multiple ways to interpret this!
  • hm... Fang still clinging to his mother's grave and all the associated issues, maybe?
  • Zypher
Well, no speculation here. All I have to say is awesome, pretty page Colby!
  • LyssaGirl
    Looks fantastic...

    but...

I'D RATHER HAVE NEXT PART OF THE STORY!!!

Anyway, I think that.... Hmm... Zedwig is doing some sort of Matrix thing, and Fang is dead. And it's a dawn of the new era of Shlofelwhatsit (or the dawn of a new chapter.....) No wait! It can't be Fang dead, because fang has short hair and the dude in the picture has long hair.... Must be Sang. I'm still sticking to the dawn of a new era of Shloffelwhatsit.
  • Minor
    Matrix style Zedwig FTW. xD

it is confusing, isn't it? I agree with the new era idea.
  • Kelsey
They're holding each other in balance- Zedwig, from flying off the handle into the darkness (and going crazy and/or dying), and (Sangwine?) from falling "into the grave"(stone) and into the sunrise (and dying)? Love the symbolism, even if I don't understand it yet! And the art, just the art of it... is completely gorgeous.
  • Kelsey
That or Zedwig is trading his own life for somebody else's (!)
  • Annalia
Huh.. That's a woman's legs, folks, which makes me think this is neither Fang nor Sangwine. I mean, sure, they're elves, but still! :P It looks like a mix of characters to me, because the hair is blonde, yet the body remids me a lot more of Bactine. But the hair is blonde! *hyperventilates*

On a side note, whoever that is is on a tomb. It feels like Zedwig is gently putting him/her down too, not holding on. Well, he could be holding on too. Hmmmm...

*happy sigh* Such a great title page. Congratz, Colby. :D
  • enkelior
I actually think it's Fang, not Sanguine. Maybe something about how the old Fang is dead, but Zedwig still holds on to who he used to be? Or maybe he'll resurrect the good (and the long hair) in Fang?

OR MAYBE THEY'RE BOTH GOING TO DIE AND ZEDWIG'S TRYING TO KILL FANG GENTLY BECAUSE HE STILL LOVES HIM.

(By the by, Colby, just want to say that this is an excellent comic you have here. After all the time I've spent reading it, it's about time I said so, isn't it?)
  • Maelstra
Yeah, I'd also guess it's Fang. Because of the green. I'm not sure of the symbolism, though. Zedwig hanging on to the old Fang by a thread?
  • Lissy
woah... i'm not exactly sure what is going on, but it is beautiful!

hmm, zedwig and sanguine... is this symbolic of zedwig holding onto sanguine? perhaps for hope and sanity, since the light is coming from sanguine's side and there is darkness above zedwig.

and on that note...let the speculation and adoration begin!
  • sis u are right, awesome page, totally... shaking, intriguing
looks like somesort of allure from darkness, the calling to a falling one, the.. oh well im to sleepy to continue, any hint from the author?
  • A hint: the bottom person is Prince Fangline.
