#376 – Tripping in the Passage
  • Wendy

    First comment!

A 'dear John' letter? Oh noes!
(John doesn't sound very elven. Are we about to solve the mystery of Xylic's parentage?)

  • A Reader

Oh yay! Mysterious dusty old things….

  • Robert_K

Personally, I would not be against it. It'll be interesting to learn about if it is.

  • Bahnree

what does the writing on the locket say? I can't tell (I haz a bad feeling about stuff in secret corridors)

  • Faticia

There is a window in the secret passage. Do they usually do things like that? Ok, whatever Sangwine uncovered looks like it should be a picture, but for some weird reason I feel like it probably is a mirror (though a picture would make much more sense). Maybe it's because I have been watching way too much La Belle et la Bete…

    “one get the gibet?”
    Sounds very romantic.
I hate to say this but the elf girl in the locket looked like an elf man at first until I saw… *ahem*,,, the chest.

  • Lady Nilstria

You know, considering the state of things and that all of his friends are in mortal danger…..

Sangwine doesn't seem all that hurried does he?

  • Lady Nilstria

    I think it's 'cine get ne gibel'……..whatever that means….<_<

    Hmm…
Sangwine finds a portrait of someone…he looks quite shocked.

    his mother? father?

Or does this have something to do with Xylic?

And the locket–”cine get ni gibel?” The letter…John–definitely not elvish.

    I've got a load of questions now…

  • Lauren

i thought it was a man at first too…

  • Ellie

I love how Sang's hair is still lovely and perfect in spite of his traveling through dusty corridors. He must use really great shampoo!! What brand is it? I'd like to give it a try.

Dear John letters are never a good thing. I'm most interested in seeing what will happen next!

  • D

“Sangwine, Sangwine, what do you see?”
“I see something, looking at me.”

    ….*anxiety*

I love your cobwebbing. I want it.

  • Zypher

Oh, he was hurrying, hence why he tripped.

After all in the dark, no one can hear you scream… oops, wrong comment. I mean, not even elves can see in the dark.

And so much for elven grace, eh Sangwine?

  • Erulisse

I bet its a picture of Ellinya, xylic, and xylic's dad.

  • http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1120154/ Calenlass_Greenleaf

    I thought Xylic's mother's name was Lin…

Unless I read it wrong somewhere. Probably.

  • LadyFox

Exactly, and when Xylic told Sang that, he replied that Lin was not an Elven name. El-lin-ya however is, and Lin is a logical shortening of it. Ellinya's awfully long for everydeay use afterall ^_^ By human standards anyway

  • http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1120154/ Calenlass_Greenleaf

Makes sense, considering my name has three syllables…

  • Falco

“Cine get ne givet”? I'm having a hard time deciding if it's some kind of actual code or just a mindscrew.
I'm kind of hoping we're about to see Sangwine's dad in portrait form, or something…. but this whole thing is pretty mysterious.

  • http://purnicellin.com/lint colbycheese

He's probably relieved Bactine didn't see him do that. He'd never hear the end of it.

  • Lu

    :D and so it begins

  • spas

agreed, ellinya, sangwine's aunt, must be xylic's mother, and she must have tucked away mementos of her human love and her son. sweet!

  • Zypher

I see a lot of comments that Sangwine's aunt is Xylic's mom, but she didn't look anything like that image in the locket…

  • random person

The person in the locket doesn't look like an elf. Her ears are round. Maybe Xylic's dad was actually his foster father? And maybe it was his MOTHER who was the elf?

  • random person

I mean his father maybe was the elf X(

  • Keybolt

I think that Ellinya is Xylic's mother but your theory does have some interesting implications considering how much Xylic and Fang look alike. Maybe Xylic was Fang's twin sent away for his own protection because of a divine prophesy, to avoid a Romulus and Remes type ending. Only our beloved author knows for sure.

  • lizybeth

At first glance, I thought it said “one gets the giblet.” Turkey anyone?
