However, there's also the fact that the artifact Fang wears (As far as has been said/I can tell) allows them to read each others' thoughts and possibly give them a glimpse into the others' soul. It would seem to me that when your very soul is bared to another person, man or woman, same sex or opposite, a little something like clinging onto them or hugging isn't such a big deal.
