Ugh

I’m starting to lose my patience with this move. Not only am I still surrounded by boxes, I have some kind of mutant cold and, to top it all off, I injured my left hand somehow during the past weekend’s move. I’m left handed. I’m not sure yet how extensive of an injury it is, but it hurts. I’m on the wall about either working through it, which is usually what I do when I get pains and so on from running, or resting it, which often only weakens whatever body part it is and doesn’t tend to do me much good. Then again, if I try to work it out and end up making it worse that would suck more, so I don’t really know what to do. For those who don’t know I’m a pianist and having an injured hand is BAD. (Plus I can’t draw or write to potential either, but those are just my hobbies)

I don’t want a permanent injury, and in the past five years or so I’d gotten really good at managing my hands, never getting that nasty tendonitis burn, and I’m one of the few pianists in the program at school who sneaked away without obtaining carpal tunnel syndrome in some form or other. I haven’t even had to don a brace for at least 4 years. I might have to now, though. I don’t know.

Anyway, like I said, I’m losing my patience with this move. If I get a hand injury from it on top of everything else I’m going to murder the state of Texas. And if I don’t start getting my regular Lint fix I’m going murder everyone … IGNOMINIOUSLY.

That said, no update today, and I’m more frustrated than you are.

Well, I certainly hope you don't get a hand injury, then, as I and the state of Texas would rather not be murdered ignominiously. =)
Seriously, though, I really hope you feel better. I honestly can sympathize, in a way; while I have never injured my hand, I have gotten a very nasty rash all over my writing/drawing hand, and nearly went insane from not being able to properly hold a pencil or type with ease for about two weeks. I have prayed that it will improve. (No typo, I really just prayed that your hand would get better and the move would go well; I don't want to say I will and then accidentally forget about it later, like I sometimes do. =) )
And I did not know you were a pianist! ^^ That is very cool. Do you play in concert, or teach, or something else? And I hope that your family is getting through the move okay.

    Get well soon, Colby!

  • Thank you for your condolences! Fortunately after a few days's rest my hand recuperated swimmingly. I'm still trying to figure out what happened to it, exactly.

Riverfox: I do pretty much everything. Perform, accompany, teach. Mostly accompany because that's my favorite.

    That's great to hear! =)

Oh, very cool! Thanks for elaborating. =) Sounds like a very enjoyable occupation!
  • Awwww, Colby!! *sends warm thoughts and prayers toward injured hand* I hope it starts to feel better soon! Being in pain is no fun at all.

I am sadness. I hope your hand gets better soon. I dunno what would be best, as I'm a writer who has never really hurt my HAND before. I've gotten my arm plenty of times, but...

Just do what you think would be best and good luck on getting better!
  • Left-handed... :)

But, yeah, being a writer/pianist/artist (though I'm still working on the latter) with an injured hand is horrible. It's happened more than once to me.

Get your hand better before you draw anymore. I would prefer you well than in pain. :)
